Your annual training template is probably clear in your mind, but you still have issues on how to visually put it into place. Here’s a 4-step guide on how to complete your periodization model using macro in Trayn.
Periodization model
Competition schedule
Training loads
Specifics
First and foremost, click on the upper right Settings button to decide the number of weeks and the starting date to make sure your preparation phase and peaking time(s) are wisely placed. When you create a new plan, the settings are shown first.
Step 1: Pick your periodization model
Trayn offers you a variety of periodization templates to help you get started in your planning. Depending on your situation, you will probably find a model corresponding to your needs. If not, there is always the option to choosing a custom model. Determine how many peaks you want to have in your macro and pick the model that works best for your needs. Every template can be adapted to your specific situation.
Step 2: Preparation of your schedule
You are now set to adapt your Planning sections, Sub-period and Goals (if necessary).
The periodization models will help you start with a basis, but make sure to personalize the different phases and mesocycles depending on your situation. It would also be a great time to place your competitions/games/tournaments/playoffs as an inserted row in Configuration of Rows. Alternatively, link the a team or athlete to the macro to show competitions from there in a dedicated row (available in te full Macro package).
Predefined values are probably your best options to have a nice visual (see figure below).
Please refer to Edit Macro Plans for further instructions on the row configuration.
Step 3: Training loads
There are several tools in the macro Settings to help you take into consideration the training parameters you want to emphasize in your macro. By considering one row for each of your parameters (volume, frequency, intensity), you will then be able to establish a more specific training load.
Bars, steps, and line charts are also powerful tools to help you visualize your training load or any other parameters over your annual planification with colorful graphics. Charts are also a great option to keep track of progress with a relation between fitness, volume and intensity.
In Row configuration, choose Value with unit in Data type to see the list of units you can choose. Here is an example of volume distribution (%) for the muscular qualities the athletes should focus on during a planning section.
Step 4: Specifics
When it comes to specific parts of the training, you have many options to integrate into your macro. The main goal here is to have your specific training aligned with your planning sections, sub-periods, and training loads you have established earlier. Here are some examples of specific aspects of your training you could integrate in your macro:
Testing
Energy systems/training zones
Specific ability
Technical skills
Tactics & strategy
