Customize Exercise Parameters

Add and update your exercise parameters in your admin section to define training workload for sessions.

Updated over a week ago

Training/exercise parameters are used to define the workload (intensity, volume, tempo, rest intervals, etc.) for exercises in a workout.

To configure the exercise parameters in your environment, navigate to the admin interface (admin role required) and open the section "Exercise Parameters".

There you can edit existing parameters and add new parameters if you're missing something.

Configuration Options

Name and Abbreviation

The full name of the parameter is required. The abbreviation is used in parts of the app where there is little space.

Execution Tempo

If you activate this checkbox, this parameter will get a qualitative meaning, rather than a quantitative.

This allows you to add something like the following Speed (of execution) = explosive, 0-1-3-1 into the value field for a workout exercise. If this setting is not active, you can only use numbers, ranges of numbers (i.e. 5-10, <10, >15) and the two keywords min and max.

Below there's a screenshot of the workout editor. The exercise parameter on the right, "Tempo", has the execution tempo setting enabled

Integer Values

If you activate the checkbox "Integer Values", only whole numbers can be used for the parameter. This is especially important for individualized values, when you don't want to get a calculated value like 5.43 repetitions.

Units

You can add one or more units which should be used with this parameter.

Linked Test Parameters

Any test parameter that gets enabled here, will be available in the workout editor for individualizing training parameters for your athletes.

Linked test parameters can be used to define values in a workout as a percentage of the test parameter

For example, if an exercise has a "Heart Rate" param set to a value of "85% of max heartrate" and an athlete has a measurement for the "max heartrate" test parameter of 185BPM they will see this parameter as 157BPM if the Integer Value setting is enabled or 157.25BPM without it.

Multiplication Factor for Summaries

Trayn provides some features where the app calculates the total duration or workload of a workout. To identify parameters correctly, which indicate some form of repetition, you have to configure their factor.

This value should be 1 for all variants of "Number of sets" or "Repetitions".

It should be 2 for i.e. "Repetitions per side".

It should be empty or 0 for all other parameters.

Exclude from Summaries

This is a complementary setting to the multiplication factor. This setting should be enabled if you want the parameter to be excluded from any calculated total duration or workload.

This should be checked for parameters like "Pause" or "Rest between Sets".

By pressing the green "Save" button all changes will be instantly available to your coaching staff.
