Thresholds can be used to define benchmark values or ranges for tests. These can then be compared with your athlete's results.
Preparing threshold labels and assessment levels
Configuring labels and levels requires admin privileges.
Open the "Test Thresholds" page in the Admin interface.
Define at least one Threshold Label. These might be generic labels like Benchmark, Very Good, Average, etc., or something more specific to one of your tests.
Assessment Levels are optional. They are useful to define multiple thresholds for one test parameter. For example, if the benchmark value depends on the athlete's age or gender, you might want use Assessments Levels like Under 14 - Girls, Under 14 - Boys, Under 16 - Girls, etc.
Defining threshold values
Open the details page of the test you want to add some threshold values to and click the Edit link in the section Thresholds. In the form, you can pick test parameters, assessment levels, and the threshold labels to be used for the test.
As you make your selection, a data grid will show up for each level. The rows are for the selected test parameters and columns for the threshold labels you have picked.
You can define your thresholds in the following ways:
Simple threshold value (benchmark): enter a single value, i.e.
10
or2.5
or0:30
for a duration.Closed range: enter two value separated by a dash, i.e.
10-15
or0:30-0:45
.Open range: use a smaller-than or greater-than sign with the value, i.e.
>10
, or<0:50
.
Assessing Test Results
When viewing test results, use the buttons in the row labeled Thresholds to select the thresholds for each parameter you're interested in. At the end of the row is a blue button which allows to select the thresholds by their levels for all parameters.
When viewing results in a table, coloured indicators will appear next to the result values.
If the selected thresholds form a continuous range, a horizontal bar will reflect the values within that range. Simple thresholds are drawn as vertical lines.
If the selected thresholds overlap or there are gaps between their boundaries, symbols will show whether a value matches a threshold:
For threshold ranges, a circle is shown. If the value is within the range, the circle will be filled.
For simple thresholds, a triangle pointing up or down indicates whether the value is above or below the threshold. If the value matches the threshold exactly, a line is shown.
In charts ranges are shown as bands and simple thresholds as lines:
When comparing the results of two or more athletes, there's an option to show radar charts. Please be aware that radar charts can only be drawn, if there are 3 or more test parameters visible and their thresholds form a continuous range.
