If you use a dedicated device or testing system to test a group of athletes, you can save time by importing the data directly into Trayn. If your system supports exporting to CSV, you can import all data at once instead of manually entering individual results.
Select the test and click Import Results:
Import configuration
For the first import, you will have to define an Import Configuration that can be used for all subsequent imports. This maps your specific CSV file to the test definition with parameters, test date and notes and helps you to find the column to match the athlete.
To define an import configuration select your file. If you do not see any matching column suggestion, try changing the separator. By default, this is detected automatically, but you might have to select the correct separator yourself.
The first row of the mapping configuration is for associating the rows from your CSV files with the correct athlete accounts in Trayn. The second row allows you to read the date of the test from one of the CSV rows. If your CSVs don't include dates, you can also fill them in manually every time you upload some test results.
The following rows are for mapping the columns with the test measurements for the test parameters to their counterparts in the app.
For example, a CSV as shown in the following screenshot would be suitable for upload:
Setting up the configuration with that CSV file:
After configuring at least one of the test parameters, you can click Save and run the import of that file.
If the format of the CSV files generated by your testing system changes, you can adapt the configuration. Click the "Edit configuration" button and select the new CSV file. Columns that still match the import configuration will be pre-selected, others can now be associated to test parameters.
Associate athletes
When importing the data, you want to associate an athlete with every row of your input file. If Trayn does not find the right athlete, you can associate the row manually
Finding the right athlete
A lot of times, your testing system may not use the exact same name as Trayn for an athlete. Trayn will try to find the best match, but if the match is not exact, you will see a small hint that the best match is only a guess
This is only a problem if the CSV file is ambiguous, otherwise you can just ignore this. However, if you see that you have to select the correct athlete manually on every import, try to improve the process with one of the following suggestions
Make sure names in your test system match the name in Trayn.
Add first and last names to your athletes and use the Full Name match in the import configuration.
Add the Trayn user ID to the test system. You can find this ID in the location when opening an athlete. Then, use the ID match in the import configuration.
