After you have activated a questionnaire and received responses, you probably want to visualize and assess the results.
Before running an evaluation, you'll have to decide on three things
What do you want to see for
which time range
about whom.
Trayn allows you to store multiple configurations describing the what and who for each questionnaire.
To do so, open the Questionnaires page, click the Evaluate And Manage tab and find your questionnaire in the Active Questionnaires section.
If there are no evaluation configurations yet, click the Create New Evaluation button to get started with a pre-populated configuration. If there are already some evaluations, you can select them from the drop-down menu on the left:
You can create additional evaluations by selecting the last entry Create new Evaluation from the drop-down menu.
To modify an existing evaluation configuration, select it from the drop-down menu and then click the button Evaluation Settings.
Evaluation settings
Creating and editing an evaluation will open a dialog window:
The title is used in the drop-down menu to identify the evaluation.
If the questionnaire uses alarms, you can tick the Show alarms checkbox and they will be listed on the evaluation screen.
If you're interested in who did not answer the questionnaire, activate the corresponding checkbox. The evaluation will now show a table with the number of missing answers per day.
You can opt-in to include answers from users who have been removed from the questionnaire. If the questionnaire is used for check-in or check-out evaluation from the gym-view, this option is required to be enabled.
Next, you can configure the data sets, which map to the answers for questions.
For predefined answers and numeric answers, you can choose whether you're interested in the averages and/or individual responses. You can also select how the data should be presented: just data points (i.e. as scatter plot), as straight lines between data points, or as smoothed lines.
If there are two or more question, that use the same range for answers, by default they will be plotted together in one chart. If you want to show answers for one question in a separate chart, tick the Do not group checkbox. For yes-no questions, you can configure whether you want to show the positive or the negative answers.
If you have already received responses to your questionnaire, you'll see the changes to your configuration settings in real time under the dialog.
Date range
Choose the time range for which you want to assess responses from the drop-down menu next to the selection for the evaluations. Depending on how long your questionnaire has been running, you will be presented with up to 3 options and a small form to enter a custom date range
Results for individual athletes
If you have activated the Show individual responses setting for some data sets, you have to select the athletes you want to evaluate. Click the Add user to evaluation button and select some from the participants from the dialog. Only users who have submitted responses will be available for selection.
Visualization
Line charts
Responses for questions with predefined or numeric answers will be plotted as line charts. If you select multiple data sets which use the same scale, e.g. predefined answers from 1 to 5, they will be drawn on one chart.
You can choose how the data points are connected
Data points only: no connection between the data points
Straight line: data points are connected with straight lines
Smooth line: data points are connected with smooth lines
Tables
Answers for Yes/No, User Selection, and text questions will be presented in a tabular layout.
Details, edit responses
You can click on individual data points in charts and tables to get more detailed information. If you click into a chart, you will see a data table with responses from all participants below.
For every participant, you will see a row that represents their response. Clicking individual cells will show you how the participant has seen the questionnaire and allows you to also update their responses. This may be necessary for data cleaning, but please beware that this will overwrite the participant's responses.
Data Export
At the bottom of the evaluation screen there is a button for exporting all data in CSV format. This will include answers for the currently selected date range from all participants for all questions of the questionnaire. The export will be the same, no matter how you have configured the visualization.
You can then import the CSV into other systems, such as a spread sheet, analysis.
